As part of our internship programme, we had the pleasure of welcoming Will Hopkins, a Mechanical Engineering Student from Newcastle University, as a Project Engineer over the summer.

Will thrived at Eliquo Hydrok and has been a fantastic addition to the team. He talks about his experience below.

“My time at Eliquo Hydrok has been of incredible value to me, both in knowledge gained and relationships made. From the very first day, the Project Management team provided a positive and supportive working environment for me. From this real-world experience, I have learnt a huge amount and gained skills which go beyond what can be taught at university.

Of this internship, one of the most valuable takeaways has been the mentorship and guidance I have received from colleagues and management. The advice and encouragement given will remain invaluable throughout my career.

Through my internship, I have gained a strong understanding of project management, from contract through to installation and maintenance. I observed how professionals collaborate throughout the project and how any disputes are resolved in a timely, professional manner.

This experience has not only helped expand my technical knowledge by working on different IT systems but has also enhanced my time management and problem-solving skills due to the variety and complexity of the tasks I worked on.

I am hugely grateful to Eliquo Hydrok and all the staff for making me feel so welcome. The people I have met here have played a huge part in making this summer such an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

I now go back to university with renewed motivation and confidence. I am also extremely happy to have been offered a position with Eliquo Hydrok after I graduate. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey with the company and contributing to innovative solutions that help protect our rivers and oceans.”
