ELIQUO HYDROK part of Royal HaskoningDHV turnkey solution for UK water companies AMP 7 challenges

ELIQUO HYDROK joins forces with Royal HaskoningDHV and their other partners, Suprafilt, and EPS for phosphorus removal from wastewater

Peterborough, UK, 30 July 2020 – A key challenge for water companies in AMP 7 is the tightening of water consent for phosphorus removal on smaller wastewater treatment works.  With hundreds of wastewater treatment sites and ecosystems affected, the challenge is huge. In response, Royal HaskoningDHV has developed a range of small package plants based on its award winning Nereda® wastewater treatment technology. The company has teamed up with three specialist contractors, ELIQUO HYDROK, Suprafilt, and EPS, to ensure a UK-wide turnkey delivery of these Nereda Package Plants.

The new Nereda Package Plants provide high-quality sustainable wastewater treatment with biological phosphorus removal at small works serving between 300 and 10,000 people. For added efficiency, the Package Plants have been designed to be manufactured, assembled and pre-tested off-site, which allows for a highly cost-effective implementation, ensuring improved health and safety and an efficient site assembly, even under the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Chemical-free

René Noppeney, Global Director Nereda at Royal HaskoningDHV explains: “With the new AMP 7 phosphorus consent challenges, the timing was right to introduce the Nereda Package Plants. The alternative of continued dependency on high levels of chemical dosing for years to come is simply not sustainable. Our Nereda technology provides chemical-free phosphorus removal.  We are offering a new delivery model too and have partnered with three leading specialist contractors to ensure fast, efficient and safe delivery to all water companies across of the UK.”

David Armstrong, Managing Director at ELIQUO HYDROK commented: “We are delighted to be part of this initiative to deliver standardised and sustainable wastewater treatment plants for small works, and we’re looking forward to discussing the solution with our customers.”

Patrick Buckley, Managing Director at EPS Water added: “It is important for us to offer the best whole-life solution. Being able to provide turnkey delivery of Nereda Package and Mini Plants – including factory build and pretesting, transport to site, assembly and process start up – will mean we can help water companies meet present and future consents.”

Graeme Fielden, Sales Director at Suprafilt, concluded: “We are all long-established, successful companies and collectively we bring depth of experience, technical know-how, innovation and capability. We are excited at the prospect of this partnership.”

Nereda Package Plants have been developed to provide a competitive and sustainable solution, offering the lowest whole-life cost solution for small works. In addition to meeting the tightening phosphorous removal requirements, the plants can achieve high levels of ammonia and total nitrogen removal too. A key benefit of the plants is the potential for speedy implementation. It is possible for a Package Plant to progress from award to full operation within just 24 weeks, with onsite assembly, testing and process start-up taking just four weeks. The Nereda Aquasuite controller will ensure a leading digital solution for efficient, automatic operation and control with the support of a virtual operator that never sleeps.
